At the helm of JASA is our Founder and President, Mr Neelan Karikan, a distinguished senior district court judge with over 32 years of exemplary service in the South African legal system.
Mr Karikan has long been a champion for judicial excellence, having served as President of the Judicial Officers Association of South Africa for several years, where he built a formidable legacy of advocacy. His visionary leadership has focused on elevating the rights of lower court judges and magistrates, advocating for fair remuneration, professional development, and protection from undue pressures.
A staunch proponent of a single independent judiciary, Mr Karikan has worked to unify fragmented judicial structures, ensuring equitable sentencing powers and operational harmony across all levels.
Beyond national borders, he has engaged extensively with international judges and legal experts from around the world, participating in global forums to exchange insights on judicial independence, human rights, and cross-jurisdictional challenges.
